Together with our families

We are getting married beside the water at the Quiet Current Boathouse — one long, unhurried afternoon of vows, a shared table and dancing until the tide turns. We would love you there.

The invitation

A small wedding, kept deliberately slow

We met on a ferry that was running forty minutes late, and we have been happily unhurried ever since. Nine years later we are gathering the people who shaped that time — no schedule to rush, no head table, no seating chart puzzles.

Come as you are, arrive early enough to talk to someone you have not seen in years, and stay for the part of the evening where the music gets louder and the shoes come off.

“Bring your appetite, a warm layer for the evening breeze and a story we have not heard yet.”

The day

Saturday, from three o'clock onward

Everything happens in one place, so once you arrive you can put your keys away for the evening. Times are a guide — the only one worth being early for is the ceremony.

  • 3:00 pm

    Arrival & welcome drinks

Find your name on the board, take something cold from the boathouse deck and settle in.

  • 3:45 pm

    Ceremony on the lawn

Please be seated by half past three. It is short, outdoors and entirely at the mercy of the breeze.

  • 4:30 pm

    Photographs & a long hour

Lawn games, oysters and time to talk while we disappear briefly for photographs.

  • 6:30 pm

    Dinner at one table

One long shared table under the rafters, served family style. Speeches happen between courses.

  • 9:00 pm

    Dancing

The band plays two sets, then the records come out. Cake appears somewhere in the middle.

  • 12:00 am

    Last song & farewell

We send everyone off from the jetty steps. Breakfast is laid out the next morning for anyone staying nearby.

Venue & travel

Everything you need to know before you set off

The boathouse sits at the quiet end of the estuary. Full directions and parking details are printed on the card that arrives with your invitation.

The setting

A restored timber boathouse with a lawn that runs down to the water. The ceremony is outdoors; dinner and dancing are under cover, so a little weather is no threat to the plan.

Getting there

Allow a little longer than you think — the last stretch is a single lane. There is space to leave a car overnight, and a shuttle loops back to the village from ten o'clock.

What to wear

Garden formal. The lawn is soft underfoot, so block heels or flats will serve you far better than stilettos, and evenings by the water turn cool once the sun drops.

Questions

The things guests usually ask us first

If your question is not here, add it to the message box when you reply and we will come back to you.

Can I bring a guest?

Your invitation names everyone we have space for at the table. If a plus one is included, you will see a second name on the card — and you can confirm them in the party size field when you reply.

Are children welcome?

Yes, and there will be a quieter room with cushions and books once the music starts. Let us know their ages when you reply so we can plan their food alongside everyone else's.

What about gifts?

Your presence is genuinely the whole ask. We have been living together for years and need very little; if you would still like to mark the day, a note we can keep means more than anything wrapped.

I have a dietary requirement — is that a problem?

Not at all. Dinner is served family style with generous vegetarian dishes throughout. Tell us about allergies or requirements in the form and the kitchen will plate something separately for you.

How late can I reply?

We need final numbers by 1 July 2026. Replying earlier helps us more than you would think, even if the answer is no.
